Beyond the eye

Beyond the eye

Anghel

As you look into the photo, you might simply see an eye. But like every other story, there is more to it than what it may seem. Look closely. It could represent dreams, longing and even the need for escape. And sometimes when we are feeling stuck, all we can do is to look from afar.

Hearing the topic of immobility, the first thing that came into my mind is that as a refugee or asylum seeker, we're always limited. While the others are free to soar high and go after their dreams and wants, there we are waiting and looking from afar, wishing that we can have the same freedom.

The airplane that you see represents that wish. May it be wanting to reach that dream that's beyond our reach due to restrictions imposed on us, the longing to be free to do this and that, or the need for escape from a situation that has no future.

As an aviation student, I long for experiencing how it feels like to work at the airport and apply what I have been learning. And while my classmates get to experience all that, all I can do is listen to their stories and hope that one day I get to have that.

And so in such a situation where you feel stuck, you have the option to either change your course to do something about it or like us where we can only look from afar.
